BLACK LIVES MATTER

IT DOESN’T MATTER THAT WE MATTER.

When I saw the video of George Floyd’s life being heinously taken by a gang of police officers, I was enraged, but sadly not surprised. Police brutality has been far too common for far too long. This was a poem I scribbled on a napkin, then posted on my Instagram, then decided to turn into a film to give those who aren’t in my shoes a glimpse at what it’s like to be Black in America. Unfortunately, it’s a realization that I came to as a teenager, when I was a victim of police brutality, but it still rings true now more than ever.
